Weleda Lavender Creamy Body Wash - review
/
0 Comments
These two samples are shortly to show up in one of my 'fun new things' posts, but the post is taking me ages to get up (I still have a lot of photos to edit) and I've actually been using these body washes for the past three weeks so I'm ready to review them before they're gone for good.
Do note that I have a few more of these samples because they were GWPs when I ordered a bunch of presents back in March, and while I'll use and enjoy these two, I may pass on the others as part of little skincare gifts - I have a lot of mini stuff at the moment and need to offload some of it.
Anyhoo. This body wash. I'm really enjoying it, even though I've never liked the scent of lavender. Indeed, down the road I'll likely buy this in a different scent: that's how much I'm enjoying it. More on that below.
Weleda claims/product details:
- Formulated with fragrant organic lavender and nourishing, skin-loving sesame seed oil
- A rich, creamy and hydrating formula, designed to cleanse the skin of dirt, grime and build-up, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and moisturised
- Thanks to the deeply aromatherapeutic properties of lavender, its soothing and calming scent makes this luxurious body wash ideal for use at night, working to help relax both mind and body, reduce feelings of stress and tension, and prepare you for a peaceful night's sleep
- Ideal for all skin types, this gentle wash can also help to soothe skin conditions associated with stress, such as dryness and congested pores
- Made in Switzerland, NATRUE Certified Natural, GMO & Cruelty Free, Vegan, Certified Fair Trade
- RRP $4.95 AUD for 20ml or $18.95 for 200ml
Verdict
Body washes are things that I don't normally notice using (I just want something that works), but I've really been enjoying this one from the moment I opened my first tube and I'm looking forward to trying another fragrance: I reckon the Pomegranate version has my name all over it.
It's a white, creamy gel product with a soothing lavender scent that thankfully isn't too strong because I don't like the smell of lavender and never have. Still, I can recognise that it's relaxing and I suspect that a lot of people will enjoy the fragrance and find it calming.
What I loved about this from the moment I first used it was that there's something buttery about the texture and it almost melts into the skin. Indeed, I was expecting a standard body wash but instead got something a lot more luxurious, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Do note that the product doesn't foam, so if you're expecting that then you may be disappointed. It does lather a tiny bit (it's a rich, creamy kind of lather), but it's not one of those body washes that foams up and leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean. Instead, it leaves my skin feeling soft, gently clean and hydrated.
I tested the pH of this product this morning and it's coming in at somewhere between a six and a seven, so it's not too astringent and I can tell that it's not stripping my skin. So it should suit those with sensitive skin who need something gentle that still does the job.
On the claims: yes this is a rich, creamy and hydrating formula; yes it cleans the skin of dirt and grime (although it's not the most effective body wash I've used); yes it leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturised; and yes it has a soothing and calming scent - despite the fact that I don't like the smell of lavender.
Overall I think this is a lovely little product, and while it costs more than I would typically spend on a body wash, I do like the formula enough that I intend to try it in other fragrances down the track. Maybe I'll make a little birthday order for myself in June : )
Gorgeous.
