Batiste Dry Shampoo, Tropical - review

It hasn't been a great morning here: I've been up all night feeding my son and my toddler is in something of a mood this morning (she's two), plus we're all sick with an annoying bug that she must have picked up in childcare - so it's been an effort to get on the computer today but here we are.
On top of that, this product has turned out to be one of those things that just didn't want to photograph well - which doesn't make sense because the shots I took of other products at the same time have all turned out ok - so I'm putting this down to the product itself (some photograph better than others), and I'll just use the best ones I have and be done with it.
Anyhoo. This dry shampoo. It's good. I recommend it.
Batiste claims/product details:
- Caribbean heat, coconut aromas and exotic party vibes are locked into this tropical edition
- It's the instant, deliciously exotic way to get hair that smells as good as it looks
- A multi award-winning product and Australia's #1 dry shampoo brand
- The perfect fix for great-looking hair, even between washes
- Your hair will look clean and fresh, with added body and texture, no water required
- The perfect way to extend your blow dry, free up time in the morning or give your hair a new lease on life
- For all hair types
- RRP $9.99 AUD for 200ml, but do shop around
Verdict
This is an excellent dry shampoo and I'm glad I bought it: it was one of those products I grabbed on a whim because I'd wanted to try more dry shampoo from Batiste, plus this particular scent was heavily reduced so that's why I chose it.
On the scent, I don't love it but I don't hate it either. It's a pina colada smell that's very sweet and overpowering so it's a bit much for me when I use it, but fortunately the scent does die down and I'm only aware of it if I sniff my hair after use.
What's great about this product is that it does exactly what it says it will do: it makes my hair look and feel cleaner and fresher, plus it adds body and texture to boot.
The other good news is that this product doesn't only work on hair that needs a wash: it also works if eg you've used a product that's left your hair feeling heavy and coated, so if I've used a shampoo/conditioner combo that's left a film, a few sprays of this will manage the issue well.
I've also discovered that it makes my hair easier to brush so I think it has a detangling effect too, plus it adds some shine and makes my hair feel softer.
One thing to note is that, if you touch your hair after using this, your hands will feel a bit powdered - but that doesn't bother me because you can't see the stuff on your hair and it doesn't leave a white cast (provided you brush it through).
A great product and one I recommend. I'm looking forward to trying a different scent from the range because I'm a bit over this one.
