Dermaveen Extra Gentle Soap Free Wash - review
/
0 Comments
I was kindly sent this product to test recently and we've been using it for a few weeks now so it's high time I reviewed it.
It's one of those gentle, soap-free washes that's designed for dry/sensitive skin and can be used on babies and young kids, and since that's our household in a nutshell, it was a good product for us to try.
While I don't mind it and I do think it's suitable for use on young skin, it hasn't been great for my dry skin and it's not one I would personally recommend. We'll certainly use this while we have it, but it's not one I would buy.
Dermaveen claims/product details:
- This foaming wash is specifically formulated to protect and help soothe extra dry, itchy or sensitive skin
- Soap-free to help maintain the skin’s natural oils, leaving skin comfortably soft and smooth
- pH-balanced to encourage optimal skin function
- With natural colloidal oatmeal to gently cleanse and help soothe dry skin and irritation
- Hypoallergenic and free of sulfates (SLS or SLES), lanolin, parabens, artificial dyes and fragrances
- Suitable for all over body and face use
- Ideal for: extra dry, flaky, easily irritable sensitive skin; infants, adults and elderly
- RRP $11.99 AUD for 250ml and $23.99 for 1L
Verdict
I've used quite a few soap-free washes since having children (both on the kids and on myself), and while I think this one's ok, it's not my favourite.
It's quite a thick, sticky product and I'm aware of it on my skin. It's not unpleasant to use but I wouldn't consider this to be 'lightweight' so that's something to keep in mind because the texture is unusual.
It has a very faint, fresh scent (I smell something like oatmeal) but I can only smell it if I hold the product up to my nose, so it shouldn't bother most people.
I've used this on myself and my kids as a body wash, and I do think it cleans well but it also leaves my skin feeling a little dry (especially my hands). I haven't noticed the drying effect on the kids, however, so this may just be because I have dry skin and they don't, so I need something more hydrating. It also hasn't irritated anyone's skin.
I like that the packaging comes with a pump and I also like that you get plenty of product and it's also not expensive.
We're now using this as a hand wash in the kitchen because ours ran out, and I do think it works well for that purpose too but my husband and I both agree that we've used better washes and we wouldn't buy this one.
Ok but not a favourite. I would recommend SebaMed's offering (reviewed here) as an alternative.
